With two locations in the Triangle, Klooster Family Dentistry has been a dependable source of dental care for years. Our patients value our friendly staff, cutting edge technology, and commitment to quality treatment.
Our dental sleep apnea work benefits from our existing dental education, but requires additional skills and training to deal with the unique nature of the condition. Dr. Klooster and his team are uniquely qualified to assist with your sleep apnea. The team at Klooster Family Dentistry and Center for Dental Sleep Apnea have had extensive training to provide an exceptional experience for our dental sleep apnea patients.
Qualifications and the AADSM
Dr. Klooster is a diplomate of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and one of only several dentists with this certification in North Carolina. Though any dentist can treat sleep apnea, a certification from the AADSM carries significant weight and represents particular expertise in the field.
Certification through the AADSM is handled through their mastery program, which is rigorous and time-consuming. Three 2.5-day in-person courses culminate in a board exam that measures both theory and practical skills. Diplomate status requires additional continuing education on top of existing credits from the ADA, and certification opens opportunities for higher mastery classes.
Diplomate certification also affords logistical training in running an office built around sleep apnea treatment. Because Dr. Klooster owns a private practice, his office staff and assistants are specifically trained in sleep apnea patient management, from insurance to referrals.
